Universal gets ‘Unfriended’ again as horror sequel is confirmed

The cyber horror Unfriended will be unleashed in UK cinemas this coming Friday, but the unique horror was recently released in US cinemas, so far grossing $25 million. Not bad considering the film cost next to nothing to make.

Bloody Disgusting is now reporting that a sequel has been confirmed, and that Nelson Greaves (who wrote the original film) is already working on the script.

Told completely through Skype, Unfriended will take horror to new heights, and pushes the found footage genre into a whole new era of cyber horror.

Universal will release Unfriended in UK cinemas on 1st May.

Produced by Timur Bekmambetov and directed by Leo Gabriadze, Unfriended stars Shelley Hennig, Moses Storm, Renee Olstead, Will Peltz, Jacob Wysocki, Courtney Halverson, Heather Sossaman

While video chatting one night, six high school friends receive a Skype message from a classmate who killed herself exactly one year ago. At first they think it’s a prank, but when the girl starts revealing the friends’ darkest secrets, they realize they are dealing with something from beyond this world, something that wants them dead. Told entirely from a young girl’s computer desktop, Unfriended redefines found footage for a new generation of teens.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
