I love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Kingdom Come: Deliverance

  1. Alien – I say the first (rather than Aliens) because for its time, it was shocking to see poor old John Hurt come to such an uncomfortable end. And lets face it, without Alien, there’d have been no Aliens anyway.

  2. The Thing, the 1982 classic starring the vastly under-rated Kurt Russell. Groundbreaking effects-wise and hugely influential (X-Files etc)

  3. I’d go for the underrated The Faculty. I know its a spin on invasion of the body snatchers but its still a great film!

  4. The movie BUG where a woman and a man slowly lose reality of what is real and whats not and they start to pull the bodies apart trying to locate a bug they think is infecting them.

  5. THE RUINS – although I really didn’t know whether to be scared or have a good laugh. Good either way. 🙂

  6. The Puppet Masters starring Donald Sutherland…just can’t beat mind controlling alien slugs when it comes to Sci-Fi 😉

  7. there’s an 80s b-movie with george kennedy called “uninvited” about a nice cat that has an evil mutant cat living inside it that gets onto a boat and kills everyone. gloriously bonkers trash that is really poorly made (longshots of the boat are obviously a toy boat in a bath and the cat puppet is a less realistic representation of an animal than sooty) but is just so much fun.

  8. Have to say The Thing (original version!) Probably the special effects look rather dated now but back in the day it was a proper tense and scary film, especially the scene were they’re tied together on chairs as each guys blood is tested..!

  9. Resident Evil. An underated film before the others came out as big hollywood blockbusters. But the infection of the T Virus was awesome.

  10. Impossible to decide. The Thing is bloody awesome, but I am a massive fan of Invasion of the Body Snatchers (nearly all of them) as well as the books of both. Hmm..

  11. Slither – horror comedies can be difficult to pull off but this is brilliant. Also, Nathan Fillion *swoon*.

  12. Definately Alien, that creature on John Hurts face mask still haunts me, its like having a giant spider drop down on you when your not expecting it and sticking to your face, and i’m not even frightened of spiders lol, but that thing attaching itself is just scary

  13. For me, I thought SLITHER was a great film. Nathan Fillion is perfectly cast as the sheriff trying to save his town and the woman he loves from alien parasites!

  14. Slither that bath scene classic horror, also they made it into the Guardians Of the Galaxy movie so has one of the best sequels in the world 😈

  15. The Faculty has always been one of my favourite films, it’s a film that got me interested in horror at a young age!

  16. Has to be Alien – first time I saw it I jumped outta my skin several times – now the special effects dont seem as good compared to newer films but its deffo one of the best

  17. The Faculty is my fave, it was so fresh when it first came out and it brought sci-fi to the masses making it the cult classic it is today

  18. Shivers with David Cronenberg, John Carpenter and John Landis – Duration: …Really freaked me out

  19. ‘The Stuff’ probably the most gross result of eating a gorgeous natural product tastier than icecream !!! when in fact it is a living, parasite that takes over the brain, turns those who eat it into zombies and then eats them from the inside and leaving them as empty shells!!! -great stuff !!!!!
