Nicolas Winding Refn’s (Drive, Only God Forgives, Valhalla Rising) first true horror film, The Neon Demon, began filming at the end of March, and now we finally have a first glimpse of the film.
It’s only two images (above and below), so its not a lot, but it will damn well do while we wait for a trailer!
Refn previously said about the film:
“One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty. After making DRIVE and falling madly in love with the electricity of Los Angeles, I knew I had to return to tell the story of THE NEON DEMON.”
The film stars Elle Fanning, Jena Malone, Karl Glusman, Bella Heathcote, Abbey Lee, Desmond Harrington, Christina Hendricks, and Keanu Reeves. It is being produced by Space Rocket Nation’s Lene Borglum in association with Wild Bunch and Gaumont.
Refn said recently about the film: “I very much look forward to the odyssey I’ll be taking with all these wonderful actresses (and a few guys) to travel beyond The Neon Demon where all I see is the wicked dying young.”
Official synopsis:
When aspiring model Jesse moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has.
