The colour red is terrifying in first poster for ‘Before I Wake’

Formerly called Somnia, Mike Flanagan’s (Oculus, Absentia) latest decent into horror was re-titled Before I Wake a few months ago.

We’ve already seen some sinister imagery, and a superb and frightening trailer, and now comes a chilling US poster for you to feast your eyes on. If you have issues with the colour red, then you might want to look away from this striking piece of art.

Before I Wake stars Kate Bosworth (above, Black Rock), Thomas Jane, Annabeth Gish, Jacob Tremblay and Dash Mihok, will be released in US cinemas on 25th September.

The film is produced by Trevor Macy, Sam Englebardt and William D. Johnson. Flanagan and his Oculus partner Jeff Howard wrote the screenplay. Mali Elfman and D. Scott Lumpkin are exec producers. Mike Flanagan directs.

In this intense and heart pounding supernatural thriller, Jessie (Kate Bosworth) and Mark (Thomas Jane) decide to take in a sweet and loving 8-year-old boy, Cody. Unbeknownst to them, Cody is terrified of falling asleep. At first, they assume his previous unstable homes caused his aversion to sleep, but soon discover why: Cody’s dreams manifest in reality as he sleeps. In one moment they experience the incredible wonder of Cody’s imagination, and in the next, the horrific nature of his night terrors. To save their new family, Jessie and Mark embark on a dangerous hunt to uncover the truth behind Cody’s nightmares.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
