Xavier Gens’ new home invasion thriller ‘Lights Out, heads to Cannes


Xavier Gens is the French director behind the savage Frontier(s), and also the apocalyptic The Divide, the action film Hitman and also a segment for The ABCs of Death. Gens is also working on The Crucifixion, which is being written by The Conjuring writers Chad and Carey Hayes.

He is back with a home invasion thriller called Lights Out, and is taking the film to Cannes looking for buyers. This homr invasion film has a twist as the female protagonist will be blind.

Lamont Magee and Jeff W. Byrd penned the script, and the film will be financed by Arclight’s Asian arm, Easternlight Films, and China’s Huace Pictures.


Lights Out is about a young blind girl, living alone with her seeing-eye dog, who is forced to battle Russian gangsters who invade the secluded family mansion following her father’s suspicious death. Her only hope of survival is to cut the power in the house and use the fighting skills her father taught her.
