‘Star Trek Beyond’ is the official title for Star Trek 3, confirms director Justin Lin

Star Trek 3 director Justin Lin has today confirmed the title of the new film, and that title is Star Trek Beyond. I like it!

Crew members have been very vocal that Lin is a true Trekkie, so even though many are worried how the next film will fare without JJ Abrams directing, it appears to be in good hands.

The title, revealed in the below Tweet, also reveals part of Star Fleets uniform, and the title itself suggests that we will finally be heading off on a big adventure in space.

Filming began in Vancouver in 25th June.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the launch of the classic Star Trek TV series, Paramount have announced that Star Trek 3 will boldly go into cinemas on 8th July 2016.

The TV series debuted on Sept. 8, 1966.

Justin Lin is directing the pic, with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin all on board to return. Idris Elba has been rumoured to be playing a villainous role.

J.J. Abrams will produce along with his producing partner Bryan Burke and Skydance’s David Ellison. Production is set to start in June.

Pegg and Doug Jung are writing the script.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
