Paul Feig’s ‘Ghostbusters’ reveals the Ecto-1, villain announced, and Melissa McCarthy is in uniform

Paul Feig’s all-female Ghostbusters is now filming in Boston, and there has also been plenty on display at this weeks Comic-Con.

Tonight we have some images of the new Ecto-1 car, so you can judge for yourself if you think its any good. We also have a couple of images of Melissa McCarthy in uniform.

Firstly though, Deadline have revealed who will be playing the villain in the new film, so let’s allow them to explain:

Neil Casey has been set to play the villain in Ghostbusters, Sony’s female-driven reboot of the comedy franchise that is being directed by Paul Feig from a script by Feig and Kate Dippold.

Casey is a writer and actor whose scribe credits include Saturday Night Live, where three of the film’s leads — Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones — came from. (The fourth, Melissa McCarthy, has been one of SNL‘s best guest hosts over the past few years.) Casey also has written for Inside Amy Schumer and The Kroll Show. On the other side of the camera his acting credits include Veep, Broad City, Playing House, The League and the SXSW film Fort Tilden, which won the 2014 Grand Jury Award for best narrative feature. He currently stars in Feig’s Yahoo original series Other Space.

Casey will be playing a character named Rowan, but details are being heavily guarded at this moment in time.

The Boston Herald recently dug up some plot details:

Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia.

Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.

Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones will star in the “Ghostbusters” reboot.

Ivan Reitman is producing.

It has been reported that the female Ghostbusters will be:

Erin Gabler is an academic on the tenure track at Columbia. Her former colleague and co-author is…
Abby Bergman, who’s more on the pop parapsychology side of things, and pursues ghosts for a living.
Jillian is Abby’s ghost hunting partner.
Patty is an MTA employee who comes across the main ghost.

Chris Hemsworth will be playing the male version of Annie Potts’ Janine Melnitz, secretary to the original band of ghostbusters. One source told Deadline that he will be the assistant to the band of ghostbusting gals “who nobody wants to work with.”

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
