First trailer for serial killer thriller ‘Solace’ is rather dull

You’d think that with a cast that included Anthony Hopkins, Colin Farrell, Abbie Cornish and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, serial killer flick Solace would be well worth looking forward to.

Shot in 2013 (Farrell especially looks quite young), the film has taken two years to get released, and with the revealing of the first trailer, it’s not hard to see why.

Directed by Afonso Poyart (Two Rabbits), Solace looks pretty predictable, cliched and fairly dull actually. It might be the fact that the trailer is poorly put together, and has little to no impact, which is a shame.

Still, I’m always a sucker for the serial killer genre, so rubbish trailer or not, I’ll still be checking this out.

Solace is directed by Afonso Poyart, from a script written by Sean Bailey. The cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Colin Farrell, Abbie Cornish and Jeffrey Dean Mogan. The film is due to arrive in UK cinemas on 9th October.

SOLACE tells the story of a veteran FBI detective (Morgan) and his younger ambitious partner (Cornish) who enlist the help of the reclusive, retired civilian analyst, Dr. Clancy (Hopkins) to help solve a series of bizarre murders.

When Clancy’s exceptional intuitive powers, which come in the form of vivid and disturbing visions, put him on the trail of the killer (Farrell), the doctor soon realizes his gift of second sight is little match against the extraordinary powers of this elusive murderer on a mission.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
