Horror fans know James Wan thanks to his mighty directing skills on classics like Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring, and now action fans love Wan after his record breaking Fast and Furious 7, the biggest film in the popular series.
As a producer Wan has executive produced all the Saw films, and produced horrors Annabelle, Demonic and Insidious: Chapter 3. Now Wan is looking to produce some proper action as The Tracking Board reports that Wan has come onboard the Mortal Kombat reboot, as producer.
Considering Wan’s talents, this is really exciting news for the highly anticipated return to cinemas for Mortal Kombat, and while there is still no director attached, Wan’s name guarantees box office success, and (more importantly) high quality.
Here is how The Tracking Board describe the new film:
The script, being penned by Mortal Kombat: Legacy writer Oren Uziel and The Expendables writer Dave Callaham, centers around a seemingly harmless guy who realizes his potential when he finds himself caught in the middle of a cross-dimensional battle between the warriors of Earth and the monsters of Outworld. Now, in order to stop the world from total destruction, he must win the martial arts tournament known as ‘Mortal Kombat’.
