Starry Eyes directors to tell the true story of The Exorcist with ‘Exorcism Diaries’


Starry Eyes, directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch, is widely regarded as one of the finest horror films of the year. Now THR is reporting that the talented due have lined up their next film, and it sounds perfect.

Exorcism Diaries will tell the true story of what inspired the 1973 classic, The Exorcist, and THR reported the films synopsis as follows:

Based on true story that inspired the 1970s horror classic The Exorcist, Diaries tells of a young woman, fresh out of rehab and looking to make amends, who discovers her family’s horrifying connection to the most famous exorcism of all time may be the cause behind her brother’s increasingly violent behavior.

As if this news couldn’t get any better, it turns out that the highly talented director and writer partnership of Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard (Oculus, Before I Wake) wrote the initial draft.

Producing are Roy Lee, Doug Davison, and Sonny Mallhi. John Middleton and Adam Stone are exec producing
