First, and most important, FX have announced that the series will return on Wednesday 7th October.

Secondly, during last weeks Television Critics Association event, showrunners Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk were on hand, along with some of the cast, and they confirmed that the new series is inspired by the sinister events of Elisa Lam.

Her story was recently in the news whereby she acted strangely on hotel CCTV by a lift, and she is seen talking to an unseen presence. She was later found dead on the roof of the hotel. You can read more about her story here.

“It is called ‘Hotel’ and it’s set in a hotel,” Murphy said, disclosing that the hotel will be set in downtown L.A. “We deal with a lot of American horrors, [including] addiction.”

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
