EW have revealed the first batch of images from American Horror Story: Hotel, and you’ll find the i,ages below. Included in the pics are Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Finn Wittrock, Sarah Paulson, Max Greenfield, Angela Bassett, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Wes Bentley and Naomi Campbell.
Not only that, but EW also revealed exactly who Lady Gaga will be playing, and it’s exciting. Gaga plays Countess, the owner of the hotel who is essentially a vampire, but who Murphy prefers to say is simply suffering from “an ancient blood virus.” She’s involved in a love triangle with Matt Bomer’s Donovan, also a vampire, and the newly turned male model Tristan, played by Finn Wittrock.
The fifth series will be inspired by American’s first serial killer, H.H. Holmes, as well as the surveillance video from the Los Angeles-based hotel that surfaced two years ago.
Last month at the Television Critics Association, Variety reported all the character details that were revealed:
“AHS” vet Sarah Paulson will play an addict whom she describes as “quite dark,” “vile” and “nasty.”
“I think she’s sexy. She’s a drug addict — not that drug addicts are sexy, but this girl happened to be quite sexy,” Paulson added. “She’s unlike anything I’ve done on the show. Really, unlike anything I’ve done anywhere.”
Here are the “American Horror Story: Hotel” character descriptions:
Lady Gaga: The singer plays Elizabeth, a “wealthy social doyenne,” Murphy said, adding that she’s “consumed with art and fashion and people, and she has a nefarious plan that is revealed in the first episode.”
When asked about LGBT storylines in season five, Murphy revealed that Gaga’s character is bisexual. “Lady Gaga plays a character who has relationships with Matt [Bomer] and Angela [Bassett] and Cheyenne [Jackson].”
Sarah Paulson: “I play Sally. I live at the hotel, I hate Iris [Bates] in a rather ancient way for reasons that are revealed quickly. I have a sort of budding relationship with Wes’ [Bentley] character.”
Kathy Bates: “I play Iris…I run the hotel. I have relationships with Matt Bomer and Wes [Bentley]. And I can’t stand [Sarah Paulson’s character]. I don’t know if I get to work with Angela [Bassett]. I hope.”
Matt Bomer: “I play Donovan. I’m closely associated with Ms. Gaga, Ms. Bates and Mr. Wittrock. He has very interesting relationships with relationships with lady folk in his life, and I’ll just leave it at that.”
Angela Bassett: “I’m sexy, have a strong long lasting relationship with Stephanie’s [Lady Gaga] character,” Bassett said, adding that she plays a fabulous actress who doesn’t live at the hotel, but visits often. “I’ll probably be at odds with Donovan [Bomer] — who gets the girl?” she teased of the characters fighting over Gaga.
Finn Wittrock: He will play a male model named Tristan Duffy who is “always looking for the next high, and he finds the biggest high in Lady Gaga. We have a lot to do together. She sees all of me.”
Chloe Sevigny: The “AHS” returning cast member plays Alex Lowell, the wife of Wes Bentley’s character. She is a mother and a doctor. “We are dealing with a great loss in our family and coming to grips with that among other things,” Sevigny teased.
Wes Bentley: He will play a detective who is Sevigny’s character’s husband. The actor said, “I’m investigating some grisly murders which brings me to the hotel.”
Cheyenne Jackson: “I’m playing Drake,” Jackson said, describing him as a fashion icon. “He’s trying to creatively re-establish himself and moves from New York to L.A. He’s a father and a little desperate.”
Denis O’Hare: “I’m playing Liz Taylor, movie icon,” O’Hare said. The character isn’t actually supposed to be Elizabeth Taylor, but rather someone who is inspired by “Butterfield ” and “Cleopatra” and that eye makeup, the actor explained. “I shaved my head for the part — and other body parts. I work in the hotel and the lounge called Blue Parrot Lounge.”
Falchuk said that O’Hare’s character falls into the LGBT arena, too. “I think it dances in a little more this season,” he said of exploring gay and bisexual characters this season. “I think part of the fun of it, I think, is when that stuff happens on screen now on television, it’s less of a thing… It doesn’t feel as special — in a good way.”
Madchen Amick recently joined the already cast Emma Roberts, Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer as Donovan, Finn Wittrock, Sarah Paulson as Hypodermic Sally, Kathy Bates as Iris, Chloe Sevigny, Evan Peters as Mr. March, Wes Bentley, Angela Bassett as Ramona, Max Greenfield, Denis O’Hare, Helena Mattsson, Naomi Campbell and Cheyenne Jackson.
FX have announced that the series will return on Wednesday 7th October.
