About Bat 7951 Articles
I love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Always Sometimes Monsters and The Witcher

  1. He’s brilliant as Big Red in Hellboy but my favourite performance by him is actually when he played Koulikov in Enemy at the Gates…he’s always so dry – the role really suited him..I think he stole the film and wished he could have had a longer role in it.

  2. Johner in Alien: Resurrection
Not the greatest of the Alien films, but it has its moments and most of them moments have Ron Perlman in them.

  3. I really enjoyed him in all hell-boy films but can remember him best in beauty and the beast. Showing a varied car actor style shows how brilliant an actor he is ,

  4. It must be ‘Hell Boy’ I don’t think anyone else could play that part – You can almost smell the cigars ……….

  5. I enjoyed his turn as Salvatore in “The Name Of The Rose” – it was the first time I’d come across him and I was mightlily impressed.

  6. Hellboy because it is not like he is acting in it his voice is like that in real life his facial expressions are the same ,it was like the film was made for him and all The hellboys are as good as each other

  7. Salvatore in The Name of the Rose. A stellar performance in a brilliant film full of magnificent performances.

  8. Never watched a single Ron Perlman film but heard his voice in Fallout 3 and his narration really fit the mood of the game.

  9. Which Ron Perlman performance I like the most?
I could say Hellboy or Koulikov. But his performance in Blade 2 as Dieter Reinhardt stands out.
Why? It’s simply because Ron Perlman is a bad-ass in that film.

  10. Xibalba from the animated film “The Book of Life”. A great portal for Pearlman to show his acting capabilities taking him away from his typical action / hardman roles allowing him to show depth to the mischievous and evil character through voice alone.

  11. He has an impressive CV (except for perhaps Police Academy: Mission to Moscow!) but it’s got to be Hellboy – he was born to play that role.

  12. His portrayal as the malevolent, psychopathic, evil driven sheriff in “DESPERATION” really delivers his full range as an actor, whether it be comic book Anti-Hero, mischievious, ill-gotten Biker Gang Leader, or complete Basket Case in said movie he can nail any part, and blow it away.

The voice of Slade in the new teen titans series as well, due to his educated/benevolent tone it lent a creative multilevel persona to the character, which supported the many head games the team faced.

…& to those just saying yea Hellboy or w/e they are asking Who&Why not for you to be the ignorant example why the world is Doomed to Decay….

  13. IT’S not out yet but the thing I’m most looking forward to is Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find them and he is playing Gnarlack, it’s going to be huge.

  14. City of Lost Children. I love everything Jeunet does, obviously, but Perlman is great in this. His character is fairly monosyllabic but, even with such scant dialogue, he manages to convey the emotions perfectly.

  15. I liked him as Conan’s father and leader of the Cimmerians in Conan The Barbarian. He has an imposing face and build so was well cast in the role.

  16. Definitely Johner in Alien Resurrection. It was one of the first times I remember seeing him in a film and I’ve loved him as an actor ever since!
