What with some of us being excited about his Blade Runner sequel, it’s easy to forget that Denis Villeneuve, the excellent director of Sicario, Enemy and Prisoners, has another movie coming out, and it’ll be out much sooner.
SYNOPSIS:
When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team – lead by expert linguist Louise Banks – are brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
Going by this rather mysterious trailer, I detect shades of The Day The Earth Stood Still, which is fine by me. Perhaps Arrival will be the worthy successor to the 1951 classic that the lame remake failed to be. A full trailer will be out next Tuesday and hopefully things will be a bit clearer….though of course we don’t want everything revealed!
Arrival is written by Eric Heisserer from a short story by Ted Chiang, and stars Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker and Michael Stuhlbarg. It’s out November 11th.
