When Channel 4 showed Fedd Alvarez’ not-great-but-better-than-expected remake of Sam Raimi’s classic, I became very annoyed that I missed the showing, because the channel accidently showed an uncensored print that was unintentionally sent to them by Sony Pictures. Not only did it have more gore but it also contained a few more portions of dialogue and ran nearly five minutes longer than the ‘R’ rated theatrical print which was the one officially shown all over the world. Alvarez called the theatrical cut his approved cut, but many fans argued that only the full uncensored cut qualified as the director’s version, and now, with interest in the franchise currently high with the Ash Vs. Evil Dead TV series, as well as his very fine Don’t Breathe being a box office success, Alvarez, in an interview with Altipeli, told them;

“I’ll give you the news exclusively because no one knows yet, but the extended cut of Evil Dead will be coming out on Blu-ray. It sounds like it will be available just in time for Halloween”

No word yet on whether this is just a Region ‘A’ release, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it made it to Region ‘B’ simultaneously.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However,ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
