I’ll admit – I’ve only ever seen the first three films in the Tremors series, though I do intend to catch up with the others some time soon. In any case, there have now been five Graboid pictures, as well as a TV series which received a fairly good response. Now, hot on the heels of the news that a new series starring Kevin Bacon is going to be made and will premiere on Amazon, comes news that a sixth film is in the planning. Michael Gross, who plays the always-armed survivalist Burt Gummer in the films, has just announced on his Facebook page:
“IT IS HAPPENING!!! Tremors and Graboid fans, there WILL be a number 6!! Universal Studios Entertainment announced to me today that this will happen. Can’t divulge too many secrets but to say that Burt Gummer, Jamie Kennedy and director Don Michael Paul will return for another Tremors”!
Jamie Kennedy played Michael’s estranged son Travis Walker in Tremors 5: Bloodlines, which ended with Burt and Travis as reality show stars, hunting monsters of varying types around the world, so there’s certainly some potential here. However, many fans though are disappointed that Gross will probably not be in the new TV series. Asked about his involvement, he replied:
“I’ve heard nothing about Kevin’s series, so must assume I will not be involved.”
