If you haven’t see 2002’s Bubba Ho-Tep then stop reading, put the laptop away and go and watch, because its one of the ultimate horror cult films out there!
What is it about?
Well its only got Bruce Campbell playing Elvis and the late Ossie Davis in the role of John F. Kennedy, both in a nursing home fighting off an evil Mummy. What? Surreal? Sounds daft? But its glorious!
Anyway for years writer and director Don Coscarelli -yes he from Phantasm- has teased about a sequel with even news that Campbell had dropped out and been replaced by Hellboy himself Ron Perlman. But now over the weekend, Coscarelli confirmed that there are plans to bring the long awaited sequel to the fans.
“I would love to do more Bubba Ho-tep and more Elvis,” said Coscarelli. “That was a film I really enjoyed making. We had it set up at one time with Bruce playing opposite Paul Giamatti as Elvis’s manager Colonel Parker. Unfortunately that one fell apart. Elvis is eternal, though. We’ll get it done one day.”
So there you have it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but one day Elvis will return…..and we at HCF can not wait!
