The world’s number one hit man, Arthur Bishop (JASON STATHAM), aka ‘the mechanic’, is settling into retirement, when a vicious crime boss, Crain, offers him an assignment. After Bishop turns him down, Crain kidnaps Bishop’s girlfriend Gina (JESSICA ALBA), and sets him a near-impossible task to get her back: he must kill three of Crain’s enemies – including an arms dealer and a genocidal warlord. If he doesn’t, Gina dies.

Racing against time, Bishop embarks on a breakneck mission across the continents, to complete the three assassinations in his trademark style – by making them look like accidents.

About Bat 7951 Articles
I love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Always Sometimes Monsters and The Witcher

  1. Not easy as he tends to play a similar character in all, enjoyable as he is. Therefore I think the first time I saw him which was in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

  2. I have enjoyed a number of his movies, but I think I enjoyed him most in Snatch – he had some brilliant lines which were delivered with the appropriate Cockney wit!

  3. he’s the best thing by a distance in spy. absolutely hilarious. furious 7 is a great OTT action movie. worth a watch.

but the winner…by miles: crank 2.

what an utterly bonkers film that is. ludicrously bananas, wilfully offensive, and flat out insane.

  4. The Transporter – The original and best of the Luc Besson trilogy. Although Statham doesn’t do much talking in the movie his charismatic presence on screen coupled with the action pulls the film off as a surprise hit in my books and definitely stamps Jason’s passport into action hero stardom.

  5. I love most jason statham films but the original Transporter is probably my favourite. Good story, good action, gorgeous woman 🙂

  6. The first Transported film, has a soft spot in my heart. So over the top as to be ridiculous!
But the best film he has done is “Parker” without a doubt.
It stayed true to the original novel, and was a well acted thriller.

  7. I loved him in the Expendables – just a fairly normal action movie – ok over the top maybe but it does what it says on the tin! Oh, and did I say he was handsome……

  8. Although I loved him in The Expendables, Spy, The Italian Job, Snatch, and Fast and Furious, it is The Transporter I have to go for. Those other films are ensemble pieces, Transporter is uniquely him. It is his Indiana Jones or James Bond. They may reboot the franchise but he will always be first and best.

  9. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was the first film I saw him in. Since then, he’s pretty much played the same sort of action man.

  10. Snatch, simply because it’s a modern masterpiece – great characters, a beautifully crafted plot and so many classic quotes

  11. Death Race – Loved the original but I saw this the morning after a long term relationship ended and it is so stupidly brilliant I couldn’t help but smile all the way through. I realised that, whilst their are Jason Statham films in the world there will always be escapism and happy places to go to. Also Ian McShane too.

  12. I almost cried in fits of laughter everytime he was on the screen in Spy! He shown that he is capable of being more than just being the hard guy (well okay, yes he was the hard stupid guy in that film but still….) and hopefully he can follow in the footsteps of Mark Wahlberg and show that he can do a little more than just standard action films!

  13. The Mechanic is actually one of my favourites. There’s action, a little bit of humour and a good plot. Although anything with Statham in I usually find a good watch!

  14. As his movies tend to be a bit samey, even though you know what you’re getting, I think that “Ghosts of Mars” was maybe slightly different.

  15. My favourite Jason Statham film is The Bank Job, It’s not the silly violent car chase explosion action film that is normally expected, and also shows that he has real acting talent.

  16. Has to be the true modern day classic that is Snatch. Even though Brad Pitt was in it. Statham still truly captivated the film.

  17. OMG I love Jason Statham,. I love all his films, especially Death Race. He’s a great action actor, although he was brilliant playing a comedy role in Spy.

  18. The Expendables….my favourite scene is where he goes looking for his ‘ex-girlfriends’ boyfriend….
    ‘We’ve got your back’
    No…I don’t think you have ????????????

  19. War, a plot, twisting and turning story lines combined with excellent action with the fantastic Jet Li. A very good movie indeed.

  20. As much as I loved him in War & the Transporter trilogy, his role as Turkish in Snatch is my favourite. Plenty of humour, it was a brilliant film!

  21. for me its snatch, haven’t seen a lot of his other films but reading some of the other comments i might just correct that

  22. I liked Jason Statham in Spy as it showed a different more funny side to him, instead ofplaying the same role all the time.

  23. crank 2. , just so ludicrious and funny , statham has fun with the character, i think also he realises that he can do these fun films and it wont impact on the rest of his movies unlike some other actors.

  24. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was my favourite Jason Statham film. Showed there was more to him than his regular roles.

  25. The Mechanic is my favourite. But only just. The Transporter films show him at his best. If I was female I could fall in love with him. ( I wish I was female just for Jason!).

  26. Lock Stock and two smoking barrels- it was one of his first film outings and arguably the best. Black humour with some great violence!

  27. Snatch is one of my favourites, I love the character and the quick wit and charm as well as the one liners. Was one of the first films I saw Statham in
