The thought of Ben Affleck directing himself as Batman excited many when he was attached to the project so far called The Batman some time ago. He’s proved himself to be a fine director with Gone, Baby, Gone, The Town and Argo, and his Batman was in my opinion possibly the only good thing in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice. However, whilst talking to The Guardian about his latest picture Live By Night, a 1920’s-set gangster thriller which he’s directed and in which he stars, he said that it wasn’t set in stone:
“That’s the idea. But it’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great, I’m not going to do it.”
So there y0u have it, but there’s plenty of time for him to decide as the film, which may have the Bat face off against Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, isn’t due to start shooting until Spring. In the mean time, we have Wonder Woman and Justice League coming next from DC, though it’s Live By Night that I’m personally far more excited by, and thankfully I haven’t got long to wait – it’s out in UK cinemas on January 13.
