The warnings were there!
Over the last few weeks, Ben Affleck has been giving some odd quotes about his involvement in directing the solo Batman flick and now its official, he is stepping down from the helm.
Its been a tough for months for the DC Movie universe, what with Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad getting released to some harsh reviews (but taking loads of dosh at the box-office) and with Wonder Woman rumoured to be in a bit of a mess – a rumour much denied- many fans were hoping that Affleck’s take on The Batman would be a brilliant addition.
He is staying in the role, but this is what he had to say in his official statement!
“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”
As from this morning, it seems DC have turned their attentions to Matt Reeves, whose stock is quite high after such films like Cloverfield and Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.
We’ll bring you news if and when a director is found.
