It’s official! After numerous teases from the likes of Don Mancini and Fiona Dourif, the next film in the Child’s Play series is officially happening! The other day, EW reported that Universal had announced the title of the new film along with a synopsis and a teaser trailer. The title is Cult Of Chucky, and the movie will connect with the very first film in the series. In the words of EW:

Cult of Chucky will catch up with the younger Dourif’s character at an asylum for the criminally insane where she has been confined for the past four years and is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when Nica’s psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions — an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.

Both Tiffany and Andy [I thought his cameo in Curse Of Chucky was just an in-joke] returning? The main setting being an ayslum which to me is always a good setting for a horror picture? Bring it on I say, and it’s not as if we’ll have that long to wait. Production begins very soon and the film is expected to be ready for Halloween this year.

To accompany the announcement Universal also released a brief teaser, though of course it doesn’t actually feature any new footage.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
