We had the terrific Predator back in 1987, which was soon followed by Predator 2 which I [“Doc runs for cover”] enjoyed even more though it wasn’t the bit hig the first one was. The two Alien V Predator movies were rather lame and 2011’s Predators was somewhat lacking too though it was a bit of an improvement. Now we have what is currently entitled The Predator coming and as something of a fan of Shane Black I have a feeling that at last we may get a Predator film that can stand tall with the first two. Black revealed the first look at the cast on Twitter. The cast is certainly interesting and talented, though I’m sure about the idea of having a small child as a main character, primarily as it could mean that the film will try to appeal to younger viewers and therefore be aiming that dreaded ‘PG’13’ rating instead of that ‘R’ despite Black having tweeted: “And, just to be clear… PG-13 is for pussies. Spines bleed… a lot”. But for now I have faith in Shane, who is directing with his Monster Squad partner Fred Dekker.
We don’t know much else but Black has said that it will be “an inventive sequel”, and that Boyd Holbrook plays an ex-marine who discovers an alien life form has descended upon his peaceful neighborhood, but finds that no one believes him. Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Alfie Allen and possibly Thomas Jane also star.
