The Conjuring 3 has been confirmed by New Line Cinema, something which won’t come as a surprise to anyone. However, it looks like James Wan won’t be directing the third movie in the hugely popular franchise which has given birth to a full-on cinematic universe. He will be on board though as a producer through his Atomic Monster production company. Deadline reports that the film will be written by David Leslie Johnson, the co-writer of The Conjuring 2 as well as Orphan and the Nightmare on Elm Street reboot. We don’t know the director yet.
The first two Conjuring movies have grossed almost $640 million worldwide, combined, with the original holding the record for the biggest opening weekend for a non-sequel horror. We don’t know the story of The Conjuring 3 yet, but it will again be based on the real-life investigations of Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.
