We first reported on a Tremors TV series two years ago, and there’s been rumours of problems since then, but now we can tell you that the adaptation of the tremendously fun 1990 creature feature classic movie has officially landed a pilot order at Syfy. It will be set 25 years after the original film, and Bacon’s character Valentine McKee will return to try to save the town of Perfection, Nevada again, battling age, alcohol and a delusional hero complex as well as big worm-like monsters. Says Bacon:
“This is the only character I’ve played that I’ve ever thought about revisiting. I just got to thinking, where would this guy end up after 25 years? Andrew Miller has a fantastic take on it and we hope to create a show that will be fun and scary for fans of the movie and folks that have yet to discover it. Let’s kick some Graboid ass!”
The Hollywood Reporter adds that the drama will be executive produced by Jason Blum [no need to list any of his credits is there?] while The Secret Circle‘s Andrew Miller will write the pilot script and serve as showrunner.
It’s thought that the new series will ignore the other films and TV shows.
