AMC is producing a new documentary series called AMC Visionaries which intends to tell viewers the history of various genres spanning film, music, books and comic books. James Cameron is doing science fiction. Alex Kirkman is doing comics. Each subject will be getting six one-hour episodes devoted to it. And now Arrow in the Head brings us the news that Eli Roth is doing horror. Says the Hostel and The Green Inferno writer/director:

“I’m thrilled to be part of this incredible series. For years, I’ve wanted to create a definitive ‘History of Horror,’ a living record of the genre with interviews from all the greats, old and new. Sadly, we lose more of these masters every year and with them go their stories and experiences. This show will serve as a record for future generations — fans and filmmakers alike — to enjoy. I could not be prouder to create this with AMC.”

I don’t personally consider Roth to be an especially good filmmaker, but he certainly knows and loves his horror, so this should be a treat for us all to watch – though it’s not going to show on AMC until 2018.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
