Games Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke plays a young nurse attempting to unravel sinister secrets in a Tuscan castle, in this tantalising mix of ghostly mystery classics The Others and The Woman In Black.

In 1950s Tuscany, a determined young nurse and teacher, Verena, takes a job looking after Jakob, a young boy who has not spoken since his mother died. An expert at dealing with traumatised children, she tries to draw him out.

Encountering resistance from both Jakob’s father Klaus, and the boy himself, Verena digs deeper into the mystery of his silence, and discovers a dark family secret, hidden behind the walls of the family castle. She also finds herself irresistibly drawn towards Klaus, who sees something of his late wife in the beautiful nurse.

I love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Kingdom Come: Deliverance

  1. Terminator Genysis, it is an entertaining film but it is also the only film that I have seen her act in so far.

  2. I must confess that I have not seen her in anything except GoT >< but if I had to pick one that I wouldn't mind watching it would be Voice from the Stone.

  3. I thought she brought a fresh style to the character of Sarah Connor in “Terminator Genisys” in that her portrayal was of a strong, independent woman from the get-go as opposed to Linda Hamilton’s portrayal in The Terminator!

  4. Emilia’s not done many films yet but if I had to choose from a very small back catalogue that it would have to be “ME BEFORE YOU”. I think she is still finding her feet in the big screen world hence the diversity in genres she has taken on, now adding horror to her bow.

  5. I’m afraid I have to confess that I haven’t seen Emilia Clarke in anything. I hadn’t even heard of her until I started seeing advertising for Voice from the Stone. She is very pretty and I’d love to see what looks like an interesting film.

  6. Haha gonna be pretty much the same two answers here! Terminator Genisys for me because I genuinely didn’t recognize her as Daenerys until the credits rolled, much to my shame!

  7. Me before you, because it captures the emotions of not just the man who has decided to end his life, but also of his family and Lou Clark, and brilliantly shows what they go through and how they overcome it, and the love story is just so romantic, and sad, but you end up feeling uplifted in a way.

  8. Terminator Genysis is the only other film that I’ve seen her in. Although, she was really good, I kept seeing her as her Game Of Thone character. I look forward to seeing her in other films to come.
