Well it’s taken them long enough. Amazingly, Avatar 2 is actually going to start filming next week. The Hollywood Reporter‘s Borys Kit reported on Twitter the words we never thought we’d hear:

“James Cameron finally begins shooting Avatar 2 Monday.”

Last month, it was reported that visual effects house Weta Digital had begun work on what will be a series of four films. Said James Cameron around the same time:

“Since we made Avatar, Weta continued to prove themselves as doing the best CG animation, the most human, the most alive, the most photo-realistic effects in the world. And of course, that now means I can push them to take it even further. I’ve also hired the best artists and technicians in the world to design these films. There will be such a richness of imagery that I think people just won’t be able to imagine it in advance, but it will just seem right when they finally see it.”

No mention on whether he’s come up with a decent script this time around though. In any case, plot details are scarce so far, though we do know that Stephen Lang’s  Colonel Miles Quaritch and Sigourney Weaver’s Dr Grace Augustine will be coming back from the grave.

Avatar 2 is in cinemas on December 18, 2020.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
