Some movie news are just a welcome surprise to wake up too!
Not content with last weeks shocking development that Laurie Strode was coming back to Haddonfield for one last Halloween, its been announced that yet another female iconic character, long thought dead is returning to a franchise sequel and this one even left me open mouthed in shock this morning.
Linda Hamilton IS RETURNING as Sarah Conner for the planned Terminator 6. James Cameron himself announced the news at a private event saying,
“As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return.”
This is huge news! The franchise has stalled over the many sequels that followed since the classic original and the fantastic T2, but this new film is said to be a direct sequel from those two films, ignoring what has happened since then.
Deadpool’s Tim Miller is directing but is working with Cameron on the script and the plan is for a whole new trilogy that will kickstart an all new franchise.
Cameron is hoping for a Star Wars: The Force Awakens kind of film, in which an all new cast will be introduced next to the old brigade and will then carry on the plot for the future sequels.
“We’re starting a search for an 18-something woman to be the new centerpiece of the new story. We still fold time. We will have characters from the future and the present. There will be mostly new characters, but we’ll have Arnold and Linda’s characters to anchor it.”
Sounds fantastic…..sounds intriguing….and no way does it sound like a new Genysis……….something we all should be grateful for!
