This weekend, Hull Independent Cinema is proud to present Dead of Night: Hull Horror Film Festival. With screenings at Vue Cinema Hull and Fruit, Dead of Night brings the very best new, classic and cult horror to Hull including the UK Premiere of ANOTHER WOLFCOP, plus a special night in partnership with the award-winning Middle Child Theatre Company and their anarchic live script read of Ghostbusters.
Dead of Night features five nights of the best cinematic scares new and old, from Friday 27 to Tuesday 31 October. Highlights are the UK Premiere of ANOTHER WOLFCOP, the outrageous sequel to cult favourite Wolfcop, part of a Halloween night double bill with the extended Director’s cut of classic THE EXORCIST; and a night with Middle Child Theatre Company giving the Ghostbusters script their unique treatment – with the approval of Dan Ackroyd and the estate of Harold Ramis!
Brand new films in the festival include a shocking new twist on the slasher genre in TRAGEDY GIRLS, evocative and critically acclaimed body shock in REPLACE, and fresh and twisted Christmas home invasion BETTER WATCH OUT.
Complementing the new material in the festival are some glorious classics and restorations, with the 30th Anniversary restoration of Clive Barker’s terrifying HELLRAISER; the 40th Anniversary 4K restoration of Dario Argento’s masterpiece SUSPIRIA, presented as part of the CultFilms UK tour; and the extended director’s cut of THE EXORCIST.
Every film in the festival will be introduced with a short film from the king of madcap, malevolent Claymation, Yorkshire filmmaker Lee Hardcastle.
As well as film screenings, the festival will also feature on Monday 30 October a live script reading of the 1984 classic film Ghostbusters from the award-winning team at Middle Child Theatre. Part rehearsal, part radio play and part TED talk on acid, it’s going to be an experience not to be missed, and will feature special guests from the North East Ghostbusters cosplay team offering audience interaction and photo opportunities!
Dead of Night Festival Producer Damien Greco said, “We’re really excited to bring fantastic new films and experiences alongside cult and classic faves of the past to horror film fans in Hull. Dead of Night is a brilliant opportunity for film fans to see the latest new horror films alongside the very best scary movies of the past. With great value ticket prices and passes we’re making the best scares available to more people to enjoy where they should be – in the dark, on a big screen.”
