Having been very impressed with Ben Young’s unusual serial killer flick Hounds Of Love earlier this year, I was rather excited to learn that he’d just shot a Hollywood sci-fi thriller and that it was due to come out on January 26th next year. However, it now seems that we won’t be seeing it then after all. Universal have just pulled Extinction from its intended release date. The only reason they’ve given for this is that the change will allow the studio to “explore other options” – which sounds to me like they don’t have much faith in the film and may release it straight to home viewing. But we shall see.

A father has a recurring dream of losing his family. His nightmare turns into reality when the planet is invaded by a force bent on destruction. Fighting for their lives, he comes to realize an unknown strength to keep them safe from harm.

Extinction is directed by Ben Young from a script by Eric Heisserer, Spenser Cohen, and Brad Kane. The film stars Michael Peña, Lizzy Caplan, Mike Colter, Lilly Aspell and Emma Booth.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
