While speaking with CinePop the other day, Jason Blum was asked about the future of two famous Blumhouse properties – Insidious and Sinister. With regard to Insidious, he said that if Insidious: The Last Key does well, then there will be more Insidious films and that he wants to beat the number of sequels Paranormal Activity got. Seeing as the fourth installment is currently doing better than the third, I expect a fifth movie to be announced pretty soon.
As for Sinister which has gone all quiet since the release of Sinister 2, Blum dropped a big revelation.
“We almost did Insidious and Sinister and I still feel like we might do that. So I think so. I think we’re gonna cross our worlds at some point. I don’t know how yet, but we’re gonna try”.
Do you think this could work? One franchise is a bit more vicious and disturbing than the other which is more concerned with fun supernatural scares, though The Last Key was definitely a darker, more brutal entry and possibly an intentional step closer to the world of Sinister? We shall see.
