It was only a few days ago when I posted the news that Chucky franchise creator and honcho Don Mancini wanted to make a World War 2-set Chucky movie. Since then, that’s been dismissed by some as something of a joke, but something that will definitely be happening is a Child’s Play TV series. Mancini told Bloody Disgusting exclusively that he and franchise producer David Kirschner are currently developing a series that was:
“Deliberately set up at the end of the last movie”.
“We plan to use Child’s Play in the title. We want to definitely signal that we are going dark, darker than ever before. It’s going to be very creepy.”
Mancini confirmed that Dourif will once again return to voice Chucky, while Kirshner stated that the eight-part, hour long series won’t be a reboot and will be a continuation story.
It seems that the movie Chucky series will also continue alongside the TV series so we’ll definitely be seeing a lot more of our favourite ‘good guy’ in the near future – though could this be one TV series ‘based on a movie/movies’ too far?
