I had forgotten all about the remake of Jacob’s Ladder. It was first announced back in 2013, and I don’t think any of us on HCF were pleased about it, considering that the 1990 film is such a nightmarish classic and easily the best thing that its director Adrian Lyne has done. But no, it’s still coming, and ‘Bloody Disgusting’ has confirmed that it will probably be in cinemas February 1st, 2019 – I say probably, because apparently this date ‘could’ change, so watch this space if you’ll actually interested.

The original film centred around a Vietnam War veteran attempting to discover his past while suffering from hallucinations. It seems that the Vietnam angle at least will be absent from the remake, which is described as “a modern day paranoid action thriller about two brothers”.

David M. Rosenthal directs and the script is by Jeff Buhler and Sarah Thorpe. Michael Ealy, Guy Burnet, Karla Souza and Nicole Beharie star.

If the remake contains anything as frightening as the original’s hospital scene I’ll be very surprised.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
