Jason Coffman’s Horror Comedy HOUSESITTERS Releases on Amazon Prime

Female-led indie horror/stoner comedy HOUSESITTERS, the debut feature from Chicago-based filmmaker Jason Coffman, is now available on Amazon Prime in the US and UK. The movie is available free with Prime subscription or for rental.

Angie and Izzy get a housesitting gig that’s too good to be true. A nice house, a big TV, and a platinum card to order in more food than they could ever eat in one lifetime! But there are a couple of catches: the big bloody pentagram on the floor in the basement, and the little demon with big teeth lurking upstairs. Who will survive the night, and will there be leftover kimchi for them to enjoy?

HOUSESITTERS had its world premiere at the inaugural Windy City Horrorama horror film festival in Chicago in April 2018 and garnered positive notices for its highly unique take on familiar genre territory. Inspired in equal measure by modern comedy like BROAD CITY and goofy horror films like GHOULIES, this female-led horror/comedy follows the misadventures of Angie (Annie Watkins) and Izzy (Jamie Jirak) as they take on a plum housesitting gig that kind of spirals into supernatural horror.

Shot in Chicago in 2016, HOUSESITTERS also stars Peter Ash, Jay J. Bidwell, Bethanie Louise, Mariah Michael, James Timothy Peters, and Ben Schlotfelt. The film features a creature puppet designed and built by Ohio-based independent filmmaker Dustin Wayde Mills (THE PUPPET MONSTER MASSACRE). Behind the camera, Jolene Vega served as cinematographer with Jef Burnham as assistant director and Tatiana von Recklinghausen as lead makeup/effects artist. The soundtrack includes a score by Chicago-based Joshua Burke (who records under the name boardinghouse), with songs by Black Candles, Desire (courtesy of Italians Do It Better), Inner Vegas (courtesy of Good Glass), and Night Witch.

I love prosthetic effects, stop-motion animation and gore, but most of all I love a good story! I adore B-movies and exploitation films in many of their guises and also have a soft spot for creature features. I review a wide range of media including movies, TV series, books and videogames. I'm a massive fan of author Hunter S. Thompson and I enjoy various genre of videogames with Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon two of my all time favs. Currently playing: Kingdom Come: Deliverance
