Every now and again comes a film where film goers totally ignore the critics and flock to see something reviewers have slated. The Fifty Shades films immediately come to mind, and you could probably include at least two DC films too. Well, the latest example is Venom, which has had some pretty brutal reviews. Personally I’d agree with them, I sat through it yesterday and wondered how on earth the filmmakers thought they could get away with all that terrible storytelling and awful CGI.

Well, it turns out that they have got away with it, because it has stormed straight to the top of the box office and beaten the previous October record holder Gravity, making $80 in the US and $205.2m worldwide.

Star Tom Hardy, who in my opinion was one of the few good things in the film, has already said there could be two more films.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
