Despite its lack of originality, I remember being satisfyingly scared by the 2003 slasher Wrong Turn in the cinema, but the sequels just seemed to get worse and I don’t think I even bothered with the sixth film in the series. Anyway, there’s a remake of the first movie coming and it’s already deep into development. Franchise creator and screenwriter of the first film Alan McElroy has already written the screenplay, while Mike P. Nelson, whose post-apocalyptic thriller The Domestics for Orion has won much praise, is going to direct.

From ‘Deadline’:

“The updated version is described as a timely and topical meditation on society and its issues. A cross-country hiking expedition puts a group of friends in the land of an inclusive society, where they soon discover they are under a different rule of law, and may not be the victims they thought they were.”

Let’s hope this can recapture some of the terror and thrill of the first film, though as we know these remakes tend to be inferior no matter who’s behind the camera.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
