While I didn’t think much of Venom [you can read my review here], it was a big hit despite much understandable annoyance about Sony heavily re-editing the film down to a ‘PG-13’. I like the basic premise of the film, so I’m still really curious to see something pertaining to the original cut, especially as Tom Hardy rather bravely said that his favourite scenes were removed. However, sadly it seems that we won’t see this supposedly quirkier, darker and bloodier version. As director Ruben Fleischer told ‘LRM’:

“I’m proud of the movie we’ve put out, and I think that the additional material on the DVD adds a little bit of color to the film. I don’t feel the need at this point to release an unrated version, I feel like fans seem to really like the movie that we put out.”

Well, he does say “at this point” so it’s not a 100% no – or am I just clutching at straws? Come on Tom, speak your mind again, we’re behind you even if the studio won’t be….

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
