What with eleven films in the official series and eleven ‘unofficial’ entries, there sure must be a lot of people interested in the done-to-death going-ons at Amityville House. As I’ve only seen the first three films plus the remake of the original, one of these days I’m going to set myself the task of watching them all and possibly torture myself in the process. Anyway, in the meantime we have – The Amityville Murders – a prequel which – guess what? –  seems to be a remake of Amityville 2!

On the night of November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo, Jr. took a high-powered rifle and murdered his entire family as they slept. At his trial, DeFeo claimed that “voices” in the house commanded him to kill. This is their story.

Daniel Farrands writes and directs, while John Robinson, Chelsea Ricketts, Diane Franklin, and Paul Ben-Victor star.

The US release date is February 8th, no news of a UK one yet, but we’ll keep you posted.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
