It’s far more common for release dates to be moved back, not forward, and especially these days with Blu-ray and DVD releases since the mindbogglingly stupid decision to shut down two disc producing plants which has created a large backlog. Anyway, it seems that the sequel to The Shining, based on Stephen King’s novel, which was was originally due January 24 next year, will now be released on November 8, 2019 – more than two months earlier.
Decades after the initial story, a middle-aged Danny Torrence is still traumatised by what happened at the Overlook Hotel when he was a child. He begins to show signs of psychic abilities once again, and struggling with alcoholism, he takes a job working in a hospice where he earns the nickname Dr. Sleep after helping dying patients. However, Torrance meets a young girl called Abra Stone who possesses her own psychic abilities and he becomes involved in a fight against kidnappers who are threatening her life.
Mike Flanagan writes and directs, while Rebecca Ferguson, Ewan McGregor Ewan McGregor, Jacob Tremblay and Bruce Greenwood star.
