Even though this ‘cinematic universe’ thing is getting rather silly, and while I really don’t think that we need a fourth adventure for Keanu Reeves’s hero and kind of wish that the third film hadn’t ended with that set-up for a next film, there’s no doubt that the John Wick franchise is full of material that’s ripe for expansion. So it comes as little surprise, and I certainly ain’t complaining, that ‘Deadline’ have reported today that a spinoff film called The Ballerina which “focuses on a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family”, is coming from Lionsgate. In Chapter 3, we saw how the Director, played by Angelica Huston, harshly trains ballerinas in the same facility where Wick was trained to be an assassin, so the groundwork has already been laid.

The director will be Len Wiseman [Underworld, Die Hard 4.0], a fairly average director really, but at least we know he’ll keep the action easy to follow just like his predecessors. Chapter 3‘s Shay Hatten will write the script. No release date yet, but we know that Chapter 4 will; be out on May 21, 2021.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
