The term “erotic thriller” isn’t used much now, and it’s been a long time since we’ve heard from the director of Fatal Attraction and the excellent Jacob’s Ladder. But both are back with Deep Water which is currently shooting. It’s based on a novel by Patricia Highsmith, whose work has been frequently adapted into films, Strangers On A Train and Carol probably being the best.
An attractive young married couple’s mind games with each other take a twisted turn when people around them start turning up dead. The couple staves off divorce in a loveless marriage by allowing each to take lovers, but it becomes messy as Highsmith exposed the surface facade of American suburban life.”
Zack Helm [Stranger Than Fiction] and Sam Levinson [Euphoria] are writing the script, while Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck star. November 13, 2020 is the release date.
