A remake of the 1984 Stephen King adaptation Firestarter was first announced two years ago, when Jason Blum announced that Blumhouse and writer Akiva Goldsman were developing a new version, with Fatih Akin linked as director. But after that we heard nothing until now, with ‘Collider’ reporting tonight that Keith Thomas [The Vigil] will direct the new adaptation which is definitely happening.

While the original film ranks probably about average in terms of King movies, one can’t help but yawn at the thought of yet another remake while Blumhouse, who haven’t had a very good year culminating with the horrible new version of Black Christmas, seem to be slipping quality wise, though I still have high hopes for the upcoming Invisible Man even though it’s also another remake….it really is remakes everywhere right now, including in the horror genre.

Firestarter follows a young girl who develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon.”

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
