‘INDIANA JONES 5’ MOVING FORWARD, SPIELBERG STEPPING DOWN AS DIRECTOR

Indiana Jones 5 has been a long time coming, and I was one of those who thought that it wouldn’t actually happen at all. Today comes the news that Steven Spielberg Spielberg has stepped down from directing the movie. Spielberg will remain with the project as hands-on producer, but has chosen to pass on the role of director to someone else. Though a deal hasn’t been closed just yet, it’s been reported that James Mangold is in talks to helm the film. With the very fine likes of Walk The Line, Logan, Ford Vs Ferrari and Identity under his belt. Mangold seems to be pretty adept at whatever genre he turns to, so he’s not a bad choice at all.

Meanwhile Harrison Ford discussed Indy with ‘HeyUGuys’, saing:

“I don’t really want to give them what they want to see, I want to give them something they didn’t anticipate. They are used to a degree of disappointment when you revisit. Certainly, the Marvel movies have made a spectacular example of a success that worked the other way around, they killed it!”

“We’re not going to make another Indiana Jones unless we are in a position to kill it. We want it to be the best. We’ve got some scheduling issues and a few script things to do but we are determined to get it right before we get it made.”

“We’ve got some scheduling issues and a few script things to do but we are determined to get it right before we get it made. We want it to be the best”

And Lucasfilm producer Kathleen Kennedy reiterated that the team were knocking the script into shape and that the film wouldn’t actually be a reboot.

“Oh no, Harrison Ford will be involved. It’s not a reboot. It’s a continuation. He can’t wait. He absolutely is up for it.We’re working away, getting the script where we want it to be. And then we’ll be ready to go”.

I remain a huge fan of the first three adventures. But I’m still not quite sure about this one. To me, Ford really does seem to be too old to play the part now, and all the time they took with Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull didn’t stop the result from being a huge disappointment. At least Mangold should be able to provide something of a fresher feel to this one.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
