Blumhouse’s The Hunt, which is the latest in a long line of adaptations of Richard Cornell’s 1924 novel The Most Dangerous Game, was originally scheduled for release on September 27, 2019. However, following the Dayton and El Paso mass shootings in early August 2019, Universal Pictures decided to shelve the release of the film, which had already come under criticism from some for its supposed political leanings, with even Donald Trump having a moan about it, claiming that it was “made in order to inflame and cause chaos”.
But at last it’s getting a release, and we even have a trailer, which actually plays up the controversy and tells us that it’s not quite the movie many assumed it was.
Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there. They don’t know they’ve been chosen… for a very specific purpose … The Hunt.
The Hunt is directed by Craig Zobel, written by Nick Cuse and Damon Lindelof, and stars Ethan Suplee, J.C. MacKenzie, Emma Roberts, Hilary Swank and Betty Gilpin.
March 13 is the release date.
