‘PARASITE’ DIRECTOR BOON JOON-HO PREPPING FILM WITH “UNIQUE ELEMENTS OF HORROR AND ACTION”

As you no doubt know, Bong Joon-ho’s black comedy thriller Parasite hasn’t just won Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Film at this year’s Oscars. I personally didn’t think the film was anything special, but I’ll leave going into that for another day. Anyway, the filmmaker is ploughing ahead with two other projects, saying to ‘Arrow In The Head’:

“I have to work, it’s my job. So I’ve been working for the past 20 years, and regardless of what happened at Cannes and Oscars, I had been working on two projects before then, I’m continuing to work on them, nothing has changed because of these awards. One is in Korean and one is in English. The Korean film is located in Seoul and has unique elements of horror and action”.

Which doesn’t really tell you much, but with the likes of Snowpiercer and The Host under his belt, Bong certainly has experience in both genres.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
