Yes, it’s true! Robert Englund almost hosted a reality TV series based on the Nightmare on Elm Street series, similar to Fear Factor. Apparently, following the big commercial success of Freddy vs. Jason in 2004, CBS approached Englund to host something called A Nightmare on Elm Street: Real Nightmares. According to ‘Screen Rant’, the series:

“Saw contestants send in audition tapes describing their deepest fears. Once selected, Englund would travel to their hometown and interview them further, asking increasingly personal psychological questions. After that, the contestant’s nightmares would be recreated on a soundstage in Los Angeles, and they would be flown in to experience them for real.”

It seems like six episodes were actually produced but then CBS pulled the plug prior due to nervous CBS lawyers and Fear Factor. And none of these episodes have seen the light of day since then and may have been binned – or maybe they’re just saving them for some new super dooper Blu-ray release with the first and fifth movie uncut – and this series certainly needs a definitive release instead of New Line continuing to re-release virtually the same mediocre quality box set over and over again.

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
