Fantasy Island came out to disappointing box office, though the usual Blumhouse low budget meant that it still made money, and I didn’t find it to be quite as bad as many said; the first third, at least, was pretty decent even it went on go down the proverbial toilet. Back in February, director Jeff Wadlow revealed the existence of an R-rated “slightly edgier cut” that would likely make its way to home video – as indeed it is.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced the other day that, in North America, both the theatrical and unrated editions will be arriving on digital April 14th with a Blu-ray and DVD release set for May 12. Obviously this is just North America for the moment, but I think it’s highly likely that we’ll get this version in the UK as well.

Restoring a few seconds of blood doesn’t generally improve a film much, but as always I’m curious to see what was cut out…..

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
