The Omen spawned three sequels, a remake and a short-lived television series. Then in 2016, it was announced that a feature film prequel, written by The Conjuring‘s Chad and Carey Hayes, was in the works at 20th Century Fox. We’ve heard nothing more about that until now, when, in an interview with ‘’ , the Hayes brothers suggested that it sill might happen.

“We did the prequel to The Omen, which is also sitting over at Fox, that, rumor has it, that it is going into production. So we’ll see what happens. We get to tell you where Damien came from. It was really fun. That was great.”

I like three of the Omen films and don’t mind the remaining two, but – come on now!- do we really need to go into detail about the origin of Damien? Surely it’s left better shrouded in some mystery. We know that he’s the son of the Devil and isn’t that enough? Of course it’s possible that the resulting film may turn out great and make me eat my words. But until now, I can’t say I’m excited about this at all!

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
