We’ve known about a new Scream movie for some time now, a film which will remain canon with the four Wes Craven films, but only now do we have a release date. It’s quite far away; January 14th, 2022, though at least it means that, hopefully, the date won’t have to change because of You Know What.
Production will begin in a few weeks time with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directing from a script by Guy Busick and James Vanderbilt in a co-production between Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures. The confirmed cast so far includes Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jack Quaid and yes; Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and David Arquette as Dewey Riley. The big question on fan’s minds is probably whether Neve Campbell be playing Sidney Prescott one more time. Right now, we don’t know. She recently confirmed she’s had conversations with the directors about returning, but no confirmation on her actually returning. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear more.
