Andrew Lincoln’s Walking Dead Movie could start to film this Spring, while Showrunner teases the return of Shayne

To be fair on The Walking Dead. while its gone through the mire and has lost many viewers due to its bland storylines through season seven and parts of 9, the show has somehow got good again over the last year, capturing some of the glory of its earlier runs.

The departure of Andrew Lincoln in the lead role as Rick Grimes was supposed to be the final nail in the coffin for the franchise, but somehow it responded really well, giving the show a bit of freshness and has made many fans finally looking forward for when this apocalyptic world would offer once more.

Lincoln may have left the show, but he has signed up to star in a trilogy of Walking Dead movies, with fans curious to see where he has been over the last few years and Lincoln himself has admitted he has missed the show and can not wait to put back on the sheriff’s hat.

But when though? he has some good news as speaking to EXTRA, he had this to say

With good intentions, and if everything works and I can leave my country, I plan to be back in America filming in spring-summer.”

Yay!

That’s not all though, showrunner Scott Gimple has been talking and with the franchise branching out over the next few years, with a Daryl and Carol spin off leading the way, the most anticipated series to come is the Tales From The Walking Dead, which will tell stories of characters past and new.

Set as an anthology serial, here is what Gimple has said in a recent interview

Tales on the other hand is completely different. There isn’t even a regular cast to that show. I think there’s gonna be a mix of old favourites in various ways, whether they be specials, whether they be mini-series, whether they be on Tales.”

Gimple admitted that one of his favourite aspects of The Walking Dead era was the feud between Shayne and Rick, which Tales could bring back for a special one off….a flashback as you say.

Going all the way back to Rick and Shane (Jon Bernthal), it was like, well, who’s right? Who would I be?  That’s really the best one though, when they both have good arguments.

Gimple remained tight lipped but as Tales will go down this route, it does seem possible that a reunion could be on the cards.

The Waking Dead returns this February 28th.
